Youth Symposium
The Youth Symposium commenced in October 2023.
The aim is to encourage young people ages 14-25 yrs old to develop an enthusiasm for active citizenship on issues that they feel passionate about.
Since the Symposium’s inception, the youth service has held 9 meetings, most in a Q&A format directly with the Minister for Youth, to listen closely to concerns and priorities.
In response, we have introduced other targeted initiatives such as a trip to Morocco that are of informal and social educational nature.
The discussions held have been thematically categorised to clearly reflect emerging concerns, including:
-
Mental health and wellbeing
-
Vocational and non-academic pathways
-
Careers advice, apprenticeships and employment opportunities
-
Safe social events for under-16s
-
Access to inclusive public spaces such as parks and skateparks
-
Gender equality issues
-
Disability issues
