young leaders programme
the young leaders programme is open to all young people aged 14-17, including new members. It was designed to help young people build confidence, develop practical skills, and take an active role in their communities. The programme grew naturally from the youth clubs, where existing members began showing a genuine interest in helping run sessions.
building on this momentum, the programme provides structure, training, and support to any young person ready to step up, whether they are already part of a youth club or joining for the first time. Participants begin with an 8-week training course covering leadership, communication, safeguarding, conflict resolution, and more.
after training, young leaders volunteer at one of gibraltar’s four youth clubs one evening a week for two months, gaining hands-on experience in a safe, supportive environment. They receive regular support from a licensed Youth Worker and are awarded a certificate of achievement recording their volunteer hours. The programme promotes responsibility, personal growth, teamwork, and provides a stepping-stone into future volunteering or youth work opportunities.
