who we are

the Gibraltar Youth Service is a Government Department under the Government of Gibraltar, dedicated to supporting and empowering young people across our community. The Hon. Minister Christian Santos currently serves as the Minister for Youth, continuing a proud legacy of youth development and engagement. Established in 1963, the Gibraltar Youth Service has been serving the young people of Gibraltar for over 60 years. Throughout this time, we’ve provided safe spaces, guidance, and opportunities that help young people learn, grow, and make a positive impact in their lives and their community.

what we do

we work collaboratively with young people and in partnership with other youth-focused organisations to deliver unique, innovative, and life-changing opportunities, projects, and programmes. Our approach is inclusive, creative, and youth-led. Empowering young people to explore their potential, develop new skills, and contribute positively to society. Whether through personal development activities, community engagement projects, or leadership opportunities, we are committed to bettering the lives of young people in Gibraltar.

how we do it

our staff receive training, accreditation, and professional development to mentor and empower young people effectively. Through innovative programmes, community partnerships, and supportive staff, we create a safe and inspiring environment where young people can explore their potential, develop their skills, and make a positive impact on their community.

young people are at the heat of everything we do

at the Gibraltar Youth Service, young people are at the centre of all we do. We work directly with them, consulting, listening, and responding to their needs and aspirations, ensuring that their voices guide our programmes and activities.

we also work to build links across nations, bringing young people together to promote global citizenship, understanding, and cultural exchange. By exploring new ways of working and continually evaluating and monitoring our programmes, we remain proactive, innovative, and committed to sharing good practice and learning.

safe space

all our clubs uphold a zero-tolerance approach to violence and provide a safe, inclusive environment where young people can be themselves. We actively challenge discrimination and prejudice, ensuring that every young person feels respected and supported.

creativity is key

creativity and self-expression are at the heart of our work. Through our links with leading arts organisations, we provide opportunities for young people to explore and develop their creative talents.

our programmes include gallery exhibitions, such as the Young People’s Mental Health Week – Youth Arts Exhibition, and our Youth Centre is fully equipped with photography and production tools.

the Gibraltar Youth Production Team (GYPT) benefits from these resources, gaining valuable skills in production, teamwork, and creative collaboration, helping young people to develop confidence and practical skills for the future.
