Mark Zammit, Principal Youth Officer at the Gibraltar Youth Service, has 26+ years’ experience, leading staff, safeguarding, and youth strategy while promoting professional youth work and positive outcomes for young people.
Mark leads the Youth Service Senior Management Team and is responsible for the management of both full-time and part-time staff. He has extensive experience in community engagement and plays a key role in safeguarding, health and safety, and promoting youth wellbeing. He has been a member of the Child Protection Committee since 2013, sits on the Drugs Advisory Council, and supports inter-agency safeguarding investigations and child protection panels. Mark has worked closely with the Government Legal Office on the development of the Youth Service Act as part of the wider modernisation of the Youth Service. He is also actively contributing to the development of a Youth Strategy aimed at improving outcomes for young people across the wider community. A Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award holder, Mark remains committed to supporting positive outcomes for young people in Gibraltar through strong leadership, policy development, and strategic practice. He is dedicated to ensuring the continuation of professional youth work in Gibraltar, with all staff holding Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) recognised qualifications in Youth and Community Work, and with the Youth Service fully aligned to the values and principles of the National Youth Agency.
